How It Works

The Radius Project has received three grants to engage libraries, schools, and community centers as

forums for exploring the achievements of local visionaries. By highlighting the work of artists,

environmentalists, and volunteers, we help communities harness the power of creativity, problem-

solving, and dynamic thinking.

Our expanding archive includes 163 interviews featuring parents, educators, and residents across 19

locations, reflecting on the impact of imaginative thinkers in their neighborhoods.

Rooted in conversational education, the project reimagines libraries, schools, and community centers as

interactive learning spaces where people of all ages can explore their community’s unique potential.

Our Process

• We collaborate with PTAs, schools, civic groups, environmental advocates, and arts organizations

to identify inspiring local achievements.

• We produce short documentary films that capture these stories.

• Each film is screened within a one-mile radius of its subject, encouraging community dialogue.

• Screenings include facilitated Q&A sessions with parents, educators, historians, and the featured

artists, environmentalists, and volunteers.

• Through storytelling and discussion, The Radius Project strengthens local knowledge, deepens

community connections, and inspires the next generation of change makers—where they live.
